How to slay the Sicilian Vol. 1
How to slay the Sicilian Vol. 1

Do you struggle against the Sicilian? And would you like to play the Open Sicilian but shy away from it because you fear the many lines you might have to learn? Then this video is a must for you! Dutch Grandmaster Roeland Pruijssers and International Master Nico Zwirs created a complete repertoire against the Sicilian that is based on the Open Sicilian and that is easy to learn. They recommend the Maroczy set-up (e4-c4), the English Attack (Be3,f3 and Qd2) and set-ups with Be3/Qf3. Fighting the Sicilian with one of these three setups makes the Open Sicilian much more easy to play. Sometimes this opening approach will lead to transpositions that will baffle players with Black, e.g. if they wanted to play the Najdorf but suddenly find themselves in a line of the Taimanov! This video offers a strong and safe repertoire against the Sicilian and comes with a lot of new and fresh ideas. It is ideal for club players and titled players alike! The whole series is divided in three parts that deal with 2...d6, 2...e6 and 2...Nc6 respectively. The entertaining presentation of Pruijssers and Zwirs help to understand this powerful recipe against one of the most popular openings against 1.e4. Watch the video and get ready to slay the Sicilian! Der Torre-Angriff
Der Torre-Angriff

Der Torre-Angriff nach 1.d4 Sf6 2.Sf3 g6 3.Lg5 Dem Mexikaner Carlos Torre verdanken wir den Torre-Angriff, markiert durch die Anfangszüge 1. d4, 2. Sf3 und 3. Lg5.

Marin hat einige hoch gelobte Bücher geschrieben, darunter „Secrets of Chess Defence“ und „Learn from the legends“. How to study Classics
How to study Classics

Adrian Mikhalchishin: How to study Classics Chess education is based on examples of great players of the past. Most of the typical methods of attack, analogical plans, and correct ways of conducting different ends happened first time in their games. On the basis of these games numerous books were written about endgame subjects and endgame technique. Even about openings the great Alexander Alekhine said that it is simply the practice of the masters! Naturally every developing player has to study these examples, as he will face similar positions and problems in his practice. The more a player knows of these positions, the more frequently he will be able to apply the necessary ideas in the correct way. Of course, there are many basic positions in endgames and exact variations in the openings, which have to be remembered by heart. But the greatest part of the endgame and middlegame play consists of knowledge of typical plans and typical tactical motifs, which can be used for different purposes. To help to attack the opponent’s king or simply to help conducting plans faster and more effectively. Every young player has to study them and it is possible just from the games of the great players. Vladimir Kramnik once told, that at the moment when he decided to fight for the World Championship, he spent one year just analysing all the matches of the WC. In general, we have to study classics in two ways: 1) As we explained, in the books on endgame and middlegame. Different important subjects are studied from the selected games of the greats. 2) Every top player had his or her own speciality. Like Rubinstein was the greatest master of the ‘exchange technique’; Botvinnik was master of ‘centralization’ and Alekhine was the greatest player in developing opening initiative. Each ща them had extraordinarily instructive examples about their own favorite methods. Another problem exists - in the chess world we don’t have many good books on the middlegame and for this reason young players have problems about how to study classics. Different tactical methods exist and for these subjects we have plenty of good literature. We will present a few examples on how the same tactical methods were developed by the top players and how more complicated it became by the years. The same situation is with development of typical plans in classical structures. The Saemisch Variation against the King’s Indian and Benoni
The Saemisch Variation against the King’s Indian and Benoni

Jan Werle: The Saemisch Variation against the King’s Indian and Benoni Beat the King’s Indian and Benoni structures with the impenetrable pawn phalanx g2-f3-e4-d5. Encounter your opponent with sound and fresh ideas in this classical rebooted line of the Saemisch! The centre is stabilised with the move f3, and a possible expansion on the kingside is also prepared. Thus it is usually White who gets the attacking chances against the king. Since Benoni is structurally very similar to the King’s Indian with ...c5, many plans and motifs can be transferred here. You can then test both your theoretical knowledge as well as look at typical ideas in model games in the numerous accompanying interactive videos.

A Complete Black Repertoire versus the English, 1...e5
A Complete Black Repertoire versus the English, 1...e5

Nicholas Pert: A Complete Black Repertoire versus the English, 1...e5 The English is becoming increasingly popular as White players avoid the heavy theory of 1.e4 or 1.d4 and hope to achieve a small advantage in a safe position. A lot of club players tend to focus on openings against 1.e4 and 1.d4 but neglect to study a response to the English. 1...e5 is a theoretically sound response with good chances of equality or better in all variations, and in this video series I provide a complete Black repertoire based on this move. I have several years of experience playing 1...e5 against the English, and it is used regularly by many of the world’s leading grandmasters. Anish Giri is known for his opening preparation and his ideas feature heavily in the chapters. The repertoire is designed for players who want a complete, independent repertoire against 1.c4. 1...e5 is the 2nd most popular response to the English after 1...Nf6, and doesn’t allow direct transpositions into 1.d4 openings. In many of the chapters Black equalises, and when the White players become a bit adventurous or don’t know how to handle the positions, Black can hope for an advantage. The two positions that feature most heavily are the Four Knights English, 1.c4 e5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. Nf3 Nc6 and the systems with early g3, 1.c4 e5 2. g3 c6. In both of these positions I have studied the main variations in depth, but also covered some of the minor lines. The same themes have a habit of coming up regularly and I have attempted to present the main ideas of these key positions as well as the theory in order to help the viewer’s understanding of this opening.
