The 23rd International ITG Workshop on Smart Antennas (WSA 2019) provides a forum for presenting the most recent research on smart antennas and related theoretical and technical aspects in modern wireless communication systems. The objective is to continue, accelerate, and broaden the momentum already gained through a series of ITG workshops which started in 1996.It is our great privilege to organize the 23rd edition of WSA at the Institute of Telecommunications of Technische Universität (TU) Wien. We are happy to invite all researchers active in this technical field to submit their papers, attend the workshop, and present state-of-the-art research result in Austria's culturally vibrant and famous capital city Vienna. The proceedings of WSA 2019 will be posted on IEEE Xplore.

Die fortschreitende Digitalisierung in allen Lebensbereichen, der Ausbau der 5G-Mobilfunknetze und der Einsatz künstlicher Intelligenz sind aktuelle Themen in der öffentlichen Diskussion über den technischen Fortschritt.Dabei darf aber nicht übersehen werden, dass diese Entwicklungen eine technologische Plattform benötigen - elektronische Baugruppen und Leiterplatten, mit denen sich die digitale Transformation auch sicher und effizient realisieren lässt. Deshalb muss die Entwicklung der Baugruppentechnologie vorangetrieben werden, um höhere Frequenzen, Spannungen und Leistungsdichten bei voranschreitender Miniaturisierung und zusätzlicher Integration von Funktionen zu ermöglichen. Gleichzeitig sollen die Baugruppen aber auch robust, zuverlässig und möglichst kostengünstig sein. Gerade weil der Wettbewerb in der Baugruppenfertigung, vor allem aus Asien, ständig zunimmt, müssen die in Europa dominierenden Branchen, wie z. B. die Medizintechnik oder die Automobilindustrie, auf das Know-how und neueste Technologien für elektronische Baugruppen, die auch in Europa entwickelt werden, aufbauen können.Die Tagung soll einerseits neue Lösungsansätze zu den genannten Aspekten präsentieren und gleichzeitig zur Diskussion anregen, wie sich diese Innovationen auf die gesamten Systeme auswirken und unter verschiedenen Einsatzbedingungen realisiert werden können. Bei der Vielfalt der Herausforderungen und Entwicklungen ist zu erwarten, dass Vortragende und Teilnehmer aus unterschiedlichen Anwendungsgebieten wechselseitig zu neuen Erkenntnissen und Ansätzen gelangen. Die Dekarbonisierung der Energieversorgung stellt das bestehende Stromnetz vor gewaltige Herausforderungen hinsichtlich der Gewährleistung einer stabilen und sicheren Elektrizitätsversorgung. Die Hochspannungstechnik ist dabei eine Schlüsseltechnologie, um die Energiewende zum Erfolg werden zu lassen. Neben der konventionellen Drehstromübertragung steht in Deutschland die Hochspannungs-Gleichstrom-Übertragung (HGÜ) im Fokus des Netzausbaus der Übertragungsnetze. Ziel dieser VDE Fachtagung ist es, neue Erkenntnisse auf dem Gebiet der Hochspannungstechnik umfassend zu vermitteln und zu diskutieren. Dabei sollen die Auswirkungen wie höhere Auslastungen der Betriebsmittel oder Digitalisierung auf die Bereiche Konstruktion, Herstellungsprozess, Betriebsverhalten, Alterung, Diagnose und Monitoring näher betrachtet werden. Der Entwicklung und Anwendung von neuen Werkstoffen, Auslegungs- und Prüfverfahren von Isoliersystemen und Produkten kommt dabei eine besondere Bedeutung zu.

Robotics in the dawning era of digitalization and artificial intelligence! After two years, the 52nd International Symposium on Robotics - ISR 2020 will be held online from December 09-10, 2020.In two conference tracks and a poster session over two days, the ISR 2020 will offer an insight into the latest state-of-the-art robot technologies to participants from both industry and research. Sessions will be held on relevant topics such as Modeling, Planning and Control, as well as Components and Technologies. Developments from the area of Robotics in Production and Industrial Robots will also be addressed, as well as Service and Mobile Robotics. Additionally, we are planning sessions on Robotics in New Markets & Applications, as well as Human-robot-collaboration / Future of Work. And additional Business Track will offer guest speakers from the industry the opportunity to present their current products and developments. The special session for the IERA Award finalists will round off the conference program.This international conference is jointly organized by the Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA) and the Information Technology Society (ITG) within VDE. The ISR 2020 was originally organized as customary parallel to the automatica, the leading exhibition for smart automation and robotics. Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, the trade show has been cancelled in 2020. Messe München is now working with exhibitors to develop a new in-person event with digital elements, adapted to the circumstances in times of the coronavirus. The new event has been conceived as a compact 'exhibition before the exhibition' for early summer 2021 and is to become an add-on to automatica. Detailed information on this will follow shortly.

Auch in der nunmehr achten Ausgabe beleuchtet die Fachtagung Elektromechanische Antriebssysteme die Optimierung der Funktionalität und die Effizienz moderner elektromechanischer Antriebstechnik.Das Anwendungsspektrum umfasst industrielle und mobile Antriebssysteme, aber auch Erzeugereinheiten wie z. B. Windkraftanlagen. Die enge mechatronische Verzahnung und Integration elektrischer und mechanischer Antriebskomponenten wird in Zukunft immer wichtiger werden. Diese Entwicklung ist getrieben durch Erhöhung der Kompaktheit leistungselektronischer Komponenten, innovative E-Motorkonzepte, optimierte mechanische Antriebsbauteile, Einsatz neuer Materialkombinationen und Fertigungstechnologien und den gezielten Einsatz modernster Mess- und Sensortechnik.Die Fachtagung fokussiert die aktuellen Trendthemen "Optimierung der Energieeffizienz im Gesamtsystem" und "Minimierung parasitärer Effekte bei wechselrichtergesteuerten Antriebssystemen" mit speziellen Sessions und Keynotes. Sie sollen das interdisziplinäre Vorgehen zwischen Elektrotechnik und Maschinenbau bei Planung, Entwurf, Inbetriebnahme und Betrieb antriebstechnischer Systeme verdeutlichen.Die Beiträge können in deutscher und englischer Sprache eingereicht werden. Auf Wunsch erfolgt ein Peer-Reviewing. Dies englischen Beiträge erscheinen später in IEEE Xplore und sind uneingeschränkt zitierfähig. Praxisbeiträge aus der Industrie sind auch ohne aufwändiges Paper gerne willkommen.Die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer der Fachtagung lernen aktuelle technische Entwicklungen zu Komponenten und Systemen im Anwendungsbezug kennen. Diesen Blick "über den Tellerrand" ermöglicht es ihnen, neue Konzepte und Ideen aufzunehmen und auf ihre eigenen Anwendungen zu transferieren.

The Power and Energy Student Summit (PESS) is an annual conference in the field of electrical power engineering organized by universities or research institutions in Germany.
